Cyclists power up and wind down at Dutch Kitchen
On any sunny Saturday morning, you’re likely to see bicycles as well as cars at Dutch Kitchen. For the cyclists, the tradition, which dates back nearly 40 years, may have started with cinnamon rolls. Cycling enthusiasts who wanted to do a round-trip ride from Columbus found that, at 25 miles out, the Dutch Kitchen was a great midway point for a 50-mile ride. And what better treat than a big, fresh-from-the-oven cinnamon roll?
Today, the cyclists who ride the scenic and less-traveled roads of southern Ohio know one thing for sure: Whether you want a hearty breakfast to fuel you for a big ride or a cup of hot coffee and scrumptious dessert at the end of the day, you’re always welcome at Dutch Kitchen. In fact, one cycling group has made “The DK,” as they call it, their regular meeting place, where they can gather in a relaxing atmosphere and take advantage of our hearty Amish-style cooking.
