Mist rising over rolling farmland lifts the curtain on another day in this scenic gateway into Amish Country. From your balcony, you might see a slow parade of just-milked Jersey cows heading for pasture or catch a whiff of warm cinnamon rolls, sugary-fresh from the oven. Morning feels as calm as dew. You’re well rested and ready to start the day. Rise and shine. This is your country wake-up call—courtesy of the Carlisle Inn Sugarcreek.

A Haven of Peace & Comfort

History and heritage, natural beauty, and all the modern comforts work in harmony to make the Carlisle Inn a special destination for everyone. Couples can relax and reconnect. Families can reunite and share quality time together. Groups can gather for productive meetings and enjoyable social events. All within easy reach of dozens of cities and towns in America’s heartland.

More than the Comforts of Home

Everything about the Carlisle Inn feels special—especially the warmth and charm built into the inn’s public spaces and guest rooms by local Amish woodworkers and craftsmen. Their handiwork is everywhere you look—from the cozy wood paneled library to the wide variety of handsome, handcrafted beds.

Each floor is distinctively decorated in a different style—such as Shaker, mission, cottage, or country—with oak and cherry trim, doors, and moldings. Off the wide, welcoming hallways, generous guest rooms feature either two queen-size or one king-size bed. Other room options include executive rooms, with a fireplace and Jacuzzi, or two-bedroom suites, each with a large, comfortable living room connecting the sleeping quarters.

Every room at the Carlisle Inn also features a balcony or porch for experiencing this country oasis—from the whitetail deer grazing at dusk in the close-by country churchyard to the slow sky circle of a red-tailed hawk or the blue flash of a kingfisher.

Room to Relax & Have Fun

Spacious sitting areas and cozy nooks with comfy couches and chairs are scattered throughout Carlisle Inn—perfect spots for reading and relaxing. For more active pursuits, there’s a swimming pool in an all-season room, with a retractable glass roof, and an exercise and game area.

In the second floor sitting area, you can play the piano, challenge someone to a game of checkers, or work on whatever jigsaw puzzle is in progress on the corner table by the fireplace. There are plenty of tables by sunny windows for enjoying our complimentary country-style continental breakfast…and you’re always welcome to help yourself to a cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.

The Perfect Meeting Place

Groups will find the Carlisle Inn Sugarcreek especially accommodating. It offers a wholesome, get-away-from-it-all environment, plus all the services and facilities needed for productive meetings and special events. Meeting and banquet rooms seat up to 275 and include audio/video capabilities and flexible seating arrangements. Guests can dine on a selection of delicious Amish Kitchen Cooking favorites, served buffet or family style.

Savor Amish Country Flavor

One of the nicest parts about staying at the Carlisle Inn is dining with our next-door neighbor—Dutch Valley Restaurant—and enjoying its authentic Amish Kitchen Cooking. The menu offers exactly the kind of simple, satisfying cooking you’d expect to find in a farmhouse kitchen—big country breakfasts, hearty homemade soups, a bountiful all-you-can-eat salad bar, kid-pleasing favorites, and generous home-style entrees served with a choice of sides, including real mashed potatoes smothered in gravy. Homemade pies and pastries from the bakery always leave diners with a sweet taste in their mouths.
