Family Owned and Operated
Emanuel and Alma Mullet In 1969, three Holmes County businessmen—Emanuel Mullet, his son-in-law Robert Miller, and Dan Lehman—decided to purchase and operate a small, 75-seat family restaurant located in an old, renovated hardware store in Walnut Creek, Ohio. All raised in the area’s Amish and Mennonite communities, the men and their families set out to share part of this heritage with their customers—hearty, made-from-scratch meals enjoyed together around the table. Today, two of Emanuel’s daughters and sons-in-law and their families continue the traditions of this company founded more than a third of a century ago. Under the direction of Robert and Sue Miller and Dr. Daniel and Mary Miller, Dutchman Hospitality Group now includes five restaurants, two inns, four bakeries, seven shops, and a wholesale food supplier situated throughout scenic, small-town Ohio, plus offices located in the center of Walnut Creek, steps away from the site of that first restaurant. A sister company, Das Dutchman Essenhaus is located in Middlebury, Indiana.
Bob and Sue Miller
Dan and Mary Miller In 1996 the Dutchman Hospitality Group Board of Directors saw the importance of getting the next generation involved. Jeff Miller, son of Robert and Sue, and Bart Miller, son of Dan and Mary, were selected to fill two new Board positions. Two businessmen, John Bontreger and Howard Brenneman, were brought onto the Board as independent directors in 2003. Connected to the CommunityAs the company has grown, so has its commitment to offering quality services that connect to the talents and important trades of local craftspeople and contribute to the life of the local community. Dutchman Hospitality provides employment opportunities for residents and strives to be an excellent place to work. The Board of Directors believes good stewardship of Dutchman Hospitality requires a genuine, long-standing commitment to employees, customers, and the larger community. It is met by offering consistent quality and value, pursuing steady growth, and being respectful of the values and traditions of the Amish-Mennonite heritage. Dutchman Hospitality
